Fraxel Resurfacing

M.D. Claiborne & Associates, L.L.C. - Dermatology Specialists

The Fraxel ( 1550nm laser uses safe, fractional laser technology to treat minor skin damage such as age or sun spots, wrinkles and other signs of aging. Depending on your needs, Fraxel can also be used to improve skin tone, texture, and appearance of acne scars and surgical scars. The first non-ablative Fraxel device was FDA approved in 2003, and our office has been treating patients with Fraxel since 2009. Dr. Claiborne is expertly trained in all laser devices and can determine if you would be a good candidate for facial resurfacing.

E195-Fraxel-1550_LoResFraxel treatment uses patented fractional technology to target damaged skin with microscopic laser columns that penetrate deep into the skin. The laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, leaving the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes rapid healing and recovery. This stimulates your body’s own natural healing process, replacing the old and damaged cells with fresh, glowing, healthy skin.

Fraxel Before and After

Depending on the size, location, and condition of the area to be treated, a Fraxel treatment can take as little as 20 minutes. Our office typically uses a numbing cream prior to treatment to minimize pain, which can add an additional 30 minutes. While desired outcomes and goals are variable, most patients receive their desired outcomes in 3-6 treatments.

Fraxel laser can treat patients of all ages and skin color, and can work on delicate areas such as the neck, chest, and hands. After treatment your skin will feel softer, look brighter with improved tone and texture. The results of treatment are both immediate and progressive and can last for years. The most important thing with having youthful, fresh looking skin is preventative care! A high quality, zinc oxide-based SPF of at least 30 should be used every day with tretinoin at night.
